Children in the EYFS develop excellent skills in literacy and numeracy that prepare them for their smooth transition to the pre-preparatory school. This successful development is maintained through to the preparatory school.
RECEPTION
From Reception upwards we welcome girls from our Pre-School and others. We follow an enhanced version of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, using creative half termly topics and the girls continue the seven areas of learning.
Classes are small so our learning is tailored to each child, allowing them to move forward at their own pace. Daily phonics, literacy and maths lessons mean that the children make rapid progress over the year. Specialist teachers provide Music, PE and French lessons. Children leave Reception as happy, kind and confident girls.
PRE- PREP
In the Pre-Prep department the learning becomes more formal and structured, building on the foundations laid in the Early Years. Our dedicated class teachers and classroom assistants support and nurture the girls, helping them grow in independence and confidence. Small class sizes allow there to be plenty of opportunities for tailored support in order to ensure each child makes excellent progress.
Our curriculum is rich and varied, and is enhanced by specialist teachers for Music, PE, Art and French. The focus on the key skills in Maths and Literacy, including handwriting and reading, provides the girls a solid foundation for life in the Prep department.
